  4. 7 Jun 2008 at 8:23am
Since Miami will take over my broadcast on Saturday and Texas on Sunday, I will not be able to see Stanford on ESPN this weekend (because it's in Cali and both Texas and Miami are closer). So, how can I see these games? My P2P/channelsurfing.net do not have them, so I don't know what to do, is there any other way? To the first responder, no they are DEFINITELY not on in New York. What you saw was the two games they are showing tonight and it said REGIONAL COVERAGE above. They say, "check your local listing." NY doesn't get the Stanford game, it gets the east coast Miami game.

  9. Resolved Question: What exactly are bream?
  10. 7 Jun 2008 at 1:20am
I dunno if it is a regional word for something I know about or something entirely different, but what exactly are these Bream that everyone talks about on here. I'm from Wisconsin and am a very experienced fisherman, but i haven't once heard the term spoken around here. I looked it up on Wikipedia, but that only told me that it was a broad term used to talk about a variety of fish which hardly is a sufficient answer to me.

  16. 6 Jun 2008 at 10:18pm
I had surgery to reconstruct a ligament on my thumb. The surgeon, anesthesia dept. and I all agreed on an axillary block the week before surgery. The day of surgery I was assigned a Nurse Anesthetist who was not qualified to perform one. It was only when the surgeon told him I wanted the block that the Nurse aneshetist went off to find an Anesthesiologist who could do one. I watched the clock tick as he asked 3 Anesthesiologists before he found one who agreed to do it. At this point there was less than 30 minutes before surgery was to begin. The Anesthesiologist performed the block then asked me to touch my nose. I was able to bend my elbow but once I got past 9 degrees, I had no coordination and hit my face. The anesthesiologist pronounced the block successful and left. 10 minutes later I was wheeled into surgery. 10 minutes after that I felt the surgeon slice into my thumb. It really hurt. Shouldn't the anesthesiologist have done a sensory check on my hand?

  20. 6 Jun 2008 at 8:27pm
My playstation connects online because I am able to play my Mortal Kombat Arnaggedon online. However, I am always kicked out of the lobby when it is registering the regional settings.. I have tried various methods to gain connection but it would just not work so I think that the whole lobby is down. Granted, the game is 4 years old, yet I still would think that they would still have the lobby open for veteran players to pass some time on the older games.

  23. Resolved Question: A probably unsolvable question, on how to become an actor ...
  24. 6 Jun 2008 at 2:54pm
Well the topic says it all, I am from Slovenia, and the film industry is pretty much non existent here, even if it were more advance, I wouldn't want to act, because I'd like to do so in English, not my mother language. Now I've said to myself that when I'll visit L.A, I will go to an audition for fun, but we all know that it takes years to have a break, some never make it of course. And 10 days in L.A truly isn't enough for anything, just to get a few rejections. Now, I have a talent for foreign languages, I can do quite a few different English accents, even some regional accents of U.S, by different states. The problem is that there is no place where I could practice here, thus making it impossible to become a Hollywood actor, there was no Slovenian that EVER made it to Hollywood. Answer that if you can.

  35. Resolved Question: College Baseball History-Texas A&M 1989?
  36. 6 Jun 2008 at 12:07am
Vaguely remember hearing that when they lost in the regional finals in LSU's last at bat with two outs, many die hard A&M fans to this day say was the biggest travesty in A&M sports history. Ironic that theres little about the 89' team on the web, hence my question. They lost only 5 games in the regular season. Almost everyone believed this was the greatest college baseball team of all time. Where can I find any stats, rosters or game results of this 89' team? Cool tidbit-Both shocking losses were elimination games for LSU. Skip Bertman said this was the best team he's ever had,and the are not one of the 5 National title teams He's said that if All American Ben Mcdonald had not developed a nasty blister on his index throwing finger just before the CWS, they would have won easily. The first time all season, big Ben got ripped, and they finished 2-2.

Melvin Butler gives a presentation on asthma at a health fair at Shaw AME Zion Church in Smyrna, Ga. The organization "Not One More Life" brings respiratory therapists and allergists to black churches because blacks are more likely than whites to have asthma, but less likely to control it. Reducing such racial and regional disparities, detailed by researchers at Dartmouth Medical School, will be a major focus of a $300 million initiative to be announced and that 300 million is going to 14 communities thats an awful lot of money http://www.usatoday.com/news/health/2008-06-05-health-grants_N.htm?csp=34 is this free healthcare to blacks only? chi that is the most ubserd answer ive ever heard we are giving 14 communities 300 million dollars because they cant control thierself? well im quiting my job and going on welfare it is daisy and i wont pay a dime into it - i will protest it

  41. Resolved Question: Which job offer should I take?
  42. 5 Jun 2008 at 9:21pm
Background: I will be graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (formerly Information Technology). Based on my work experience, these are the following offers: #1 IT job as an Access Control Systems Administrator. Union, government job with good pay and excellent benefits, retirement, etc. I will also have the ability to get other jobs with the government easier because they give preference to existing employees. Downside, I don't like my cube mate, and jobs in this specific line of the IT industry are extremely rare, but so are those who know the job. #2 Payroll Administrator. Good pay, decent benefits, 401K with company match, plenty of jobs in the market, related to my degree. Downside is the job market is somewhat shrinking as IT systems take over this task. #3 Regional Security Specialist. Great pay, excellent benefits, company match 401K. A lot of IT consulting on electronic security systems, some contract security force management, 25% travel. # 4 Account Manager/Business Manager for a security company I already worked for for five years. Bad benefits, so-so management, decent pay, opportunities for advancement. Easy to get management jobs in different industries. # 4 Account Manager/Business Manager for a security company I already worked for for five years. 53. Resolved Question: Is this the real start of the recession?
  54. 5 Jun 2008 at 9:34am
Persimmon homes have announced that although they will keep their regional offices open, they are to make hundreds of people redundant. They say this is due to the poor housing market. Lots of other builders are doing the same but Persimmon are very high profile and this is most unwelcome. The knock-on effects are that not only do their staff lose their jobs and income but so too will some of their suppliers who will also have to cut back and so the whole thing gets into a downward spiral. Wrong, Sir Alan, i was in business for thirty five years owning my own business. It survived two major recessions because we targetted the end of the market where money always is - wealthy landowners etc. We have been watching the economy pull itself apart for the last four years and so two years ago we sold the business - very profitably and now i can sit back and watch this one without any worries.

  57. Resolved Question: Obama: First Global President?
  58. 5 Jun 2008 at 8:10am
Obama: First Global President? Obama: First Global President? For the first time Americans have a rare opportunity. They have a chance to elect a man as President whose vision and leadership is sought not just by many Americans, but most of the World, says Muqtedar Khan. Commentators across the globe cannot wait for Obama to become the next President of the United States. Whether it is friends across the Atlantic or even those whom we consider as our enemies, are hoping that Obama will take residence in the White House come January 2009. Like a vast majority of Americans, the world too cannot wait to see the back of President Bush. His policies have made the world tired of and disillusioned with the United States. The Promise of Obama Obama: First Global President? For the first time Americans have a rare opportunity. They have a chance to elect a man as President whose vision and leadership is sought not just by many Americans, but most of the World, says Muqtedar Khan. Commentators across the globe cannot wait for Obama to become the next President of the United States. Whether it is friends across the Atlantic or even those whom we consider as our enemies, are hoping that Obama will take residence in the White House come January 2009. Like a vast majority of Americans, the world too cannot wait to see the back of President Bush. His policies have made the world tired of and disillusioned with the United States. The Promise of Obama But providentially, we still have an ace in the hole -- the 'promise of Obama'. It is hovering tantalizingly on the horizon. At home he is seen by Americans as a candidate who transcends not just partisanship but also politics. He is poised to bring about change not just in the government but also in the manner in which government does its business. He is determined to become a unifying force - reaching out not just to opponents at home but also to enemies abroad. But most importantly he has awakened a political responsibility in millions of American youth who for decades have remained indifferent to politics. His personality is a composite bridge. He is both white and black. He is native as well as foreign. He is at once young and mature. The black Obama carries within him the echoes of America's disempowered margins. The Harvard Law alum Obama personifies the white elite. The Hussein in his name acknowledges that things which appear to be foreign - like Islam -- are also native to America. Even his association with Rev. Wright is quintessentially American. It is a bridge to America's dark past from where ghosts still come to haunt the present. Obama is surreal. He is like a customized bridge designed specifically to bridge every divide threatening to tear America apart today. Obama and International Hopes Of the two leading contenders, Obama and McCain, the latter has already won the hope of nations abroad. McCain threatens the world with a third Bush term and Obama promises a radical departure. Most commentators abroad expect John McCain to basically adopt the Bush foreign policy albeit minor changes. On the positive front they expect that McCain will be less inclined to adopt tactics like torture and kidnapping that Bush has used. His acknowledgement of global warming is a relief. On the negative side they think he will repeat Bush's folly in Iraq by starting another nightmare in Iran. Obama on the other hand is seen as free from the foolhardy hubris of neoconservatives and not completely enslaved by special interests. If he is elected, it is hoped that he will transform US foreign policy. Experts overseas expect that he will be willing to seek genuine international cooperation; will rekindle the dead spirit of multilateralism, and replace bellicosity and arrogance with diplomacy, tact and understanding. Barak Obama is not just an ordinary Presidential candidate; he is a phenomenon with global reach. I am convinced that if Obama is elected, the worldwide epidemic of anti-Americanism will deflate instantaneously and the world will reset their perceptions of America. Obama will start with a world eager to work with America to repair the global damage done by the ill-advised and ill-executed policies of George W. Bush. Even in Iraq, nations across the region will cooperate improve the regional situation. His consistent opposition to the Iraq War will also help improve relations with the Middle East. Obama and American Realities Obama's victory is not guaranteed. There is a minority of motivated and reckless conservatives who will vote against him purely on ideological grounds. But he might still attract some Republicans hoping for a new direction. Then there are three types of Democrats who claim that they will not vote for him. They are ideological feminists, racial bigots and working class white democrats. Frankly, they have no choice but to ensure an Obama victory. If McCain wins, he will appoint Supreme Court justices who will overturn Roe V. Wade and reverse the gains made by feminists. He will pursue tax cuts for the rich and benefit cuts for the working class (white included) and he will send their children to fight in what he says is a 'hundred years war'. For the first time Americans have a rare opportunity. They have a chance to elect a man as President whose vision and leadership is sought not just by many Americans, but most of the World. Obama, if elected, could be America's first World President. Electing him makes Global Sense. 65. Resolved Question: Discrimination against Apperance?
  66. 5 Jun 2008 at 1:32am
I work at Charlotte Russe and I've been there about 2 months. When i started my hair was long and naturally dark brown. I decided that I wanted to get it cut and dyed half black and half blonde but figured I should ask my general manager if there were any restrictions on hair dye and she said as long as it nothing crazy. I told her how I wanted it and she said "yea thats fine", I also asked a regular manger who said she thinks that wouldn't be a problem. Well yesterday our stores district manager and regional manager came in for a visit. Apparantly they were both very unhappy with my hair. They told my GM that it was not "Charlotte Russey". that its too punk rock and not their style, Its to Dramatic. They also said that it states in our policy that we are not allowed to dye our hair. My GM told them that I didn't tell her exactly what I was getting, she thought I was just getting blonde highlights. I'm NOT dying my hair back. My question is if they fire me do I have grounds to sue? Well I read the handbook that I got when i first started and i don't believe it said anything bout not dying your hair, But I honestly don't remember so I have to find thats book...lol. Here is a link to what my hair looks like now http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x148/harry_potter_obsessed_17/JESSIE/new.jpg

  67. Resolved Question: I want to fly humanitarian missions overseas. How can I?
  68. 4 Jun 2008 at 11:46pm
I'm a relatively low time pilot currently working on my CFI and I'm interested in working humanitarian or relief operations in less then desirable or compromised environments. I'm sure their are some organizations and agencies out there who are hurting for pilots to fly their aircraft for relief operations in third world countries. I would be willing to take on a task like this given that they provide food and shelter. Pay doesn't matter. It's not like I have bills or a family to support. It's just a line of work that seems appealing to me right now. I'm 26 years old and an Army veteran who has a year and a half experience in a combat zone. The grind of pursuing a regional airline job especially at this stage in the economy just does not seem appealing right now and if any opportunities are present where I can use my licenses to see the world and help some people at the same time then I would jump on that immediately.

I have an upcoming interview for a Regional Recruiting Coordinator position with AFLAC. What should I expect? Would the job give me good experience to learn the world of recruiting? Is it more like a sales position with mass recruiting? What are the challenges in the job and is there a lot of emphasis put on reaching quotas in order to get bonus $?

McCain recently told AIPAC, the foreign lobby that has been caught multiple times passing secrets to Israel, that Israel would be in danger if Obama was elected. Why would he say this? http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/UnderTheRadarMedia/~3/303397745/ Then, a radio talk show host and rabbi told his listeners in an interview with the California Regional Director of the Republican Jewish Coalition that Obama "posed a great delimma for American Jews." http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/UnderTheRadarMedia/~3/303397744/126356 Why are these people saying this and why isn't the media reporting on it?

  77. Resolved Question: Is it possible to find a job as an airline pilot in a spec...
  78. 4 Jun 2008 at 5:05pm
I live in Los Angeles and I'm just finishing up a Bachelors in Mathematics. I'm graduating very soon and getting ready to teach high school for a while. Ultimately, I'm planning to use summers, after school hours, and weekends to get my commercial and then I'll probably make the career change once I get a job as a CFI or anything else to help build hours. My question is this: I'm not exactly able to up and leave Los Angeles due to my girlfriend's family issues. Is it feasible to apply for jobs with any airline, regional or otherwise, that will guarantee a job in LA? Do airlines decide to relocate you after you've already been hired, or is it common practice to let let a pilot have preference? I'm willing to relocate for a while, and then move back. Is this a possibility, or is my fate in the hands of my employer?

  81. Resolved Question: Are there any studies that estimate the TRUE VALUE of a wo...
  82. 4 Jun 2008 at 3:51pm
I know that there are many studies out there (a prominent one performed every year around Mother's Day by Salary.com) citing that stay-at-home moms are worth anywhere from $110k - $140k a year. That is, if you took all the unpaid tasks that a typical stay-at-home mom does during the week, organized those tasks into professional job titles, and assigned average regional/national salaries to the hours worked (including overtime), you would need to write a check for $10k-$11k a month to cover it. I wonder what kind of paycheck working dads should get for the unpaid tasks they typically do during the week. Anyone know of such a study, or are interested in participating in a short poll to begin one? I thought it might be interesting to ask this in the spirit of Father's Day just around the corner. Yeah, at least I understand the difference between a father and a dad, and as well as the different between a mother and a mom. Sorry to hear that some of you don't. Nice try, though.

  85. Resolved Question: Do have a good advice for me?
  86. 4 Jun 2008 at 2:23am
I do not wish to rise to the challenge because I am moving to a new job in the office. However, following the retirement of my immediate line manager in February (worked for him about 20 years), I am now leaving the team on 23 June 2008 to join another team within the organization. It has been agreed by regional director to avoid conflict of personalities at my request. My present boss has taken issue that I had a significant amount of annual leave outstanding and there is concern about the impact on my new team. I have already said that the annual leave is not an issue for me and I?ll be starting my new job with a clean sheet. I have no plan to take any leave in the next 6 months or so ?unless an emergency arises. I do not wish to carry anything with me ? bygone is bygone forever. Referring to the staff handbook, my present boss says that (a) my full annual leave entitlement reflects the concern of the organization for the health of its staff and that I have taken very little leave over the last year, and (b) I cannot waive my legal entitlement. He wants me to bring my record of annual leave up to date and pressing me to take leave ?to regularize this situation as far as possible? before I move. Does this mean he want me to leave the team immediately? Is he suggesting that my stress and despair signs of my poor health due to the lack of taking annual leave? Or is he being vindictive?

  89. Resolved Question: I am wondering if I can become a pilot at the age of 12.?
  90. 3 Jun 2008 at 2:48pm
I am a 12 year old male. I personally feel that the airline buisness isn't looking too bright in the future. It seems as if as things change so do airlines. I understand that i am young, but i am currently working towards earning my ATP certificate on Flight Simulator X. I have become a very experienced pilot using this game. I live in Nova Scotia and I am very mature, responsible, and smart for my age. This may seem a little like a silly question but do you think its possible that I, without a university degree would be able to, with a little extra help begin working towards flight training at such a young age? And maybe be an airline pilot at such a young age in a few years, maybe even just a small regional airline? If anybody knows if it is possible for me to do this, please say so, and if yes than do you know of any flight schools in Nova Scotia Or Canada? I feel i am the kind of good and gifted kid who can do this. Any help is great. Thanks! Your Pilot Wannabe, Scott

  91. Resolved Question: Is this Michelle Obama video coming out tomorrow, then?
  92. 3 Jun 2008 at 2:41pm
Because I heard it was supposed to come out two weeks ago and it didn't. I've also heard that it's just taking the *** out of her regional accent and that she isn't saying "whitey" at all. I personally don't think that "whitey" is that bad a word (it's just adding a "y" to the end of the colour of the person), but even if it was, I don't want to think of her as a racist; she's too pretty. So what is the current rumour? Is it actually coming out tomorrow? And does she actually say "whitey"? Of course she CAN be racist, but I don't want her to be. Sassy chick. Princess, what on Earth is a 'biggot'? Does it have something to do with eating babbys? 'Typical' is not a bad word; it means average.

  93. Resolved Question: Combine CONCACAF and CONMEBOL?
  94. 3 Jun 2008 at 2:39pm
It would better for regional tournaments. The Copa America is so boring..... most of the time it's Brazil and Argentina in the final. Would be better if more countries played to make an extra group in the tournament. T The CONCACAF region would benefit, and Mexico and the USA already get invited to the Copa America anyway. Plus when the national teams in Europe are qualifying for the EURO's... out teams out here could do the same instead of playing friendlies.

  95. Resolved Question: pain management options?
  96. 3 Jun 2008 at 2:22pm
i have chronic pain syndrome and fibromyalgia. I have good days and bad days. i tend to overdo it on good days, because it makes the days following very bad days. I am to the point of being bedridden on those days. I woke up this morning to severe pain in neck and lower back/leg pain including migraine. I am seeing a pain management clinic doctor for "special cases of pain". we have tried all sorts of things and so far the only thing i can do is take something to sleep so i can have some pain relief and make the day shorter in perception. I called this doctor today to report the most severe pain and regional pain i have ever had. i actually called yesterday and they didnt return my call which i dont think that helped much for my emotional distress. so after TWO calls to the clinic this morning i just got a call back and was told that the pain doctor cant see me again until the 12th of june. and he wont change or increase my medications til then. i was basically told that i was gonna have to "deal with it." i am a bit furious and completely dejected and I called back and told them i needed another reasonable option. no call back yet.... but the second lady i talked to said the only thing i can do is go to the ER. this is not an option for me. So after all management techniques exhausted, I am stuck. I need some help with dealing with this severe pain. anyone have any options? I am not allowed to take prescribed meds from any other doctors, there is a strict code of conduct with the clinic and they even do "pill counts" so i cant take more meds than prescribed. I am an inch away from buying meds online which is illegal for one and for two, i get a U.A. every visit. I am totally screwed. I need help. sorry this is so long. thanks

  97. Resolved Question: Do the airlines have access to sealed and expunged crimina...
  98. 3 Jun 2008 at 2:12pm
Hi, I am a pilot about to move up to the regional airlines from my job as a flight instructor. When I was younger (18) I had several criminal records expunged and sealed. To my understanding of state and federal statutes any employee who is not holding a position in public office such as an attorney or police officer need admit that he or she has ever had a criminal conviction if that conviction is sealed or expunged. Are pilots required by law to disclose information regarding sealed and expunged records? If yes or no please post the appropriate federal statute in your response to my question so that I may refer to it for reference. Just curious...I have heard two sides to this story and no proof of either. If you have the black and white on this that would be great. I would really appreciate your help with this to any aviation attorneys out there.

  99. Resolved Question: Chessie regional hair loss question?
  100. 3 Jun 2008 at 1:12pm
I have a two year old Chesapeake Bay retriever with equally bi-lateral hair loss on her sides. One year ago it appeared (or disappeared for that matter) and the first vet said it was hormonal and her hair would grow back in the winter. (she does not have a fungus, mange, or anything acute) It did not grow back. I asked the breeder about this and he said her mother did the same thing at about a year old but the hair grew back. While at the vet for another problem, I asked a second vet, She said that she was not familiar with the breed as they are very rare in this area. She didn't think it was anything to worry about. Well I started researching on my own and found that it may be caused by increased adrenal hormone and sex hormone production. My question is, would having her spade improve this increased hormone production or could it make it worse? If this condition is hereditary she should not be bred anyway.< >
