  1. Resolved Question: Isn't this a perfect example of "liberal media" bias?
  2. 7 Jun 2008 at 7:51pm
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080607/ap_on_el_se/minnesota_senate_fr anken The article obsesses on critics who objected to some off color comments made by Franken (comedian turned politician) 8 to 10 yrs ago, making it look like Reps are just humorless. "Republicans have also hammered Franken for months on some of the more outrageous comments and writing from his years as a comedian, AS WELL AS PROBLEMS WITH HIS PERSONAL FINANCES." You want to know what those "personal finances" problems are? Franken failed to pay $70,000 in back taxes in 17 states!!! He also ended up getting slapped with a $25,000 fine for failing to pay into the workman's comp fund (irony for the friend of the working man, right?). http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2008/05/more_on_al_franken_the_tax_dea.html http://www.powerlineblog.com/archives2/2008/05/020426.php THIS was NEVER mentioned in the article! Dobiel - Just because you don't understand Dennis Miller doesn't mean he is a fool. Tonalc - The critisism of his tax situation WAS one of the things his critics said about him! For them to obsess on the critisims that were weak & refer to the biggest, most valid critisism of failure to may taxes as "personal finances" is clearly bias! You are buying one of the many lame excuses Frankin gave. And what was his excuse for failing to pay into the workman's comp fund? Boonman - I agree. But people won't "recognize it for what it is" if we don't spotlight it once in a while. Orzoff - Yes - Fox News & radio talk shows are biased to the right. Every other media outlet is biased to the left. The liberal bias outweighs the conservative bias. People need to dp their own research to get the whole story. I watch CNN & Fox News. For those who claim he made an honest mistake - check the "American thinker " site above. Olberman is the same way! They both want to raise YOUR taxes but do everything in the power to avoid paying their own! http://www.olbermannwatch.com/archives/2008/05/deadbeat_olberm.php For those who claim he made an honest mistake - check the "American thinker " site above. 3. Voting Question: The MYTH of inner city poverty? Detroit PRETENDS it is poor.?
  4. 7 Jun 2008 at 5:26pm
Did anyone see the Detroit News front page this SATURDAY morning. Headline: "Keira Dreams of Escaping Poverty" (w/a photograph of a black girl and her dad). It's the story of black people "pretending they are poor". What gets me is the way the local media in the Southeast Michigan PERPETUATES this myth. Most residents of DETROIT do not know what poor is- i dont care how bad off they are. They have never tried to "do for themselves". They try to leach into peoples lives who ARE DOING FOR THEMSELVES. City of detroit population (and their generation around the country like them) are ungrateful phonies!

The American government at work - business as usual... Bush could eliminate needed Iraqi finances at the stroke of a pen, but this... Criminal, ABSOLUTELY criminal. What do you think? http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/middle-east/us-issues-threat-to-iraqs-50bn-fo reign-reserves-in-military-deal-841407.html It takes a foreign newspaper to report the criminalility... Never see this in the US media, would ya'? Fox News? Come on... Dream on... Arctic Fox: The various documents of voter fraud in Ohio, Florida, Arizona, New Mexico, North Carolina and others in the 2004 presidential election puts major doubts on who really won. Only one state has changed their election system and that puts any future election results in serious doubt - particularly when the system has been privatized. Good luck with that!! That trashes your first rebuttal. Second, information leaked to the Independent is as reliable as the un-sourced, independent sources who leak information from any US government source into, as we know, a corrupt US media. Chris: I?ll concede a point easily in your favor: The criminality isn?t just with the Bush administration. It?s with Congress, as well ? and the concession goes to my favor, after all. Where do you want to take the subject from there? I?m game. My point here is that Congress most likely has nothing to do with the release of funds to the Iraqi government. Our criminal president DOES! Bill: I've heard your attitude (if you stay and reluctantly be a part of it) described as "participatory fascism". Either do something that physically opposes the criminals, or move out of the country, like I have.

  15. Resolved Question: Broken Britain: How do we repair it?
  16. 7 Jun 2008 at 8:49am
You may read newspaper articles, and see reports on the news of about youths contributing to the deterioration of this great country. This is no media sensationalism - I see it with my eyes everyday as I live in London, the forefront of crimes committed by these youths. What do you think caused it? And what do you think can be done to improve the situation? Are our politicians doing enough to stop it escalating? Please let me know what you think!

  18. 7 Jun 2008 at 5:04am
Initially, everyone would be dumbfounded that they were "left behind." Then, it would take quite a while for everyone to call everyone else, and realize everyone's still here. We must draw attention from the news media to maximize the effect. We could carry around signs for a week saying "the rapture is coming" then vanish ourselves off to somewhere tropical. Somewhere with a beach, maybe. Bring your valuables with you, though. There may be looting going on.

I am seing the corporate news media say that Barack and Hillary met with Diane Feinstein however Obamas press people have confirmed that they met in Northern Virgina. CNN reporters were on Baracks plane while Barack and Hillary were swept off to a meeting in Virgina. Possibly the Bilderberg meeting? What do you think. On this evenings news highlights our 3 networks are all pointing their fingers at the fact that a crossing guard, Dianna Sharp had marijuana in her system at the time of her death. This brave woman gave her own life to push a young child out of the way of an oncoming truck. She was killed and the child was not harmed. Now the news media is telling of her having drugs in her system. Tell us what you think is right or wrong about this recent coverage. Should a person be praised for giving their life, only to be ostracized afterward? It seems that the truck driver was charged with numerous misdemeanors, but now all of this is being put into question. It is obviously because he was not on drugs during the situation. This case could put a realistic light on how society views even mild marijuana use. Dianna made a split second choice that took her life to save another. How much were her instincts impaired really?

  25. Resolved Question: Suicide, why some and not others?
  26. 6 Jun 2008 at 11:06pm
I have seen things on the news when some kid kills themselves, I come from Oregon which has the 6th highest suicide rate per capita. Something like 600 people kill themselves a year here, I know that a lot of these must be kids, so why do some get news coverage and others don't. I've had kids in my city of 1,200 people try to kill themselves and many people in the community didn't even know about it. Makes me wonder, if I were to kill myself, would I get media coverage? Would it matter how I did it? How about you? Do you think the media would cover it if you killed yourself? Why? I'm not going to try it, and I don't recommend you try it either, because well, you'll be dead so you won't know the answer. I was just wondering why some get coverage and some don't. 6th highest in the US, I'm not including any other countries. Though I probably should look up some of those facts.

  28. 6 Jun 2008 at 6:33pm
In the old days news reporters REPORTED the news. Who, what, where, when and why. Simple. Not anymore. Why do we allow this? Here is an example from today at Yahoo: By Steve Holland WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Frustrated in defeat, Democrat Hillary Clinton is to endorse U.S. campaign rival Barack Obama on Saturday and party strategists said she needs to set aside any bad feelings and put on a convincing show of unity. --------------------------------------- This is not a quote. It is the words the reporter chose to use. How does he know if Hillary is "Frustrated"? Did she tell him? No. How does he know if she has 'bad feeling'? He goes so far as to assume that any show of support for Obama will be fake, as he says she will have to "put on a convincing show of unity". This is NOT reporting!! This is bias and inflamatory. Why, I ask can't people SEE this. Why do you let the media plant these ideas in your mind to make you THINK things about how Hillary thinks and feels?

  33. Resolved Question: Does this finally debunk the oil price lie?
  34. 6 Jun 2008 at 3:33pm
Read this http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080606/ap_on_bi_ge/oil_prices The lie I am referring to is media propaganda the U.S. can drive down prices by consumers cutting back on driving. Like it was the average American?s fault that prices are going up. People have been cutting back on driving, buying more fuel efficient cars and taking mass transit. There have been many media stories about the reduction of U.S. oil demand from last year but prices are still going up. Another lie is that China and India are causing the rise in oil prices. Developing counties demand is going up but I guaranty that they have not doubled their demand in one year but the price has doubled in one year. Who agrees that politicians and the media need to stop placing the burden of the average people?s shoulders for high oil prices? Don?t we need to acknowledge that our entire economy can?t ween off oil over night? I have heard everyone from environmentalist, politicians and even Bill O'Reilly say Americans are driving too much and need to cut down to reduce demand. It looks like even if we cut down to the minimum, the oil price will go up due to U.S. policies and outside factors separate from my optional trip to the store.

  35. Resolved Question: So Mrs. Clinton, it wasn't sexism that cost you the race?
  36. 6 Jun 2008 at 1:35pm
According to anaylsis, the Clinton campaign was doomed by their own hands and not by sexism in the media or on the Internet. Yes there was signs of sexism, but the campaign was dooming itself. Clinton did not plan ahead for a long fight and she did not count on Democrats not wanting to hear a message of experience. So does anyone else think that perhaps in 4, or maybe 8, we may see another woman contender for the presidency? Do you think she could win?Does anyone have any idea who this woman could, or should be? Does anyone out there want to be a contender? http://news.yahoo.com/s/csm/20080606/ts_csm/aregrets

I don't....and why does the media think that this is important for us to know? I personally think all of this celebrity news in the mainsteam media is offensive. Do you? I heard he was on Larry King to talk about it. Is that what most Americans want to hear about? Excuse me msmanners but this is not gossip. He's over $600,000 past due on mortgage payments. I personally could care less. But why does it have to reported in the mainstream news? msmanners-you are completely missing the point. Why is this on CNN? Isn't this something you'd expect from a tabloid show or magazine? Your assumptions about me are incorrect and hypocritical...You don't know me or the things I care about. Geez...I just asked a question about how this belongs on the NEWS.

  40. 6 Jun 2008 at 11:53am
This brave individual free climbed the NY times building without any harness or parachute clutching a banner that read, ?Global warming kills more people than 9/11 every week.? He completed the climb and was immediately arrested. When asked why he did such a thing he replied, This is a green building, which is a fantastic step.? He proceeded to talk about global warming as the police led him away. He said he believed the news media would give more prominence to coverage of global warming if a man climbed a prominent building. I don't know about you but personally he is my hero of the day. : ) http://cityroom.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/06/05/man-scales-new-york-times-building/ http://thesolutionissimple.org/ Dr Jello, I believe he was referring to a 2005 report by the Worth Health Organization that estimated 150,000 a year die from global warming.

  41. Resolved Question: Childhood obesity rates hit a plateau. Is this a good thing?
  42. 6 Jun 2008 at 11:05am
Childhood obesity may have just entered red wine and water status in the news media. You know how one week you hear that red wine does wonders for heart health, the next it is causing disease? Or how one study shows people do need 8 glasses of water a day, followed by another that says not so and finally a third that says people are dehydrated and need to drink (you've got it) 8 glasses of water a day. With the headlines from long-term studies released by the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) released last week, we are now on a roller-coaster of reporting on childhood obesity as well.

  44. 6 Jun 2008 at 10:21am
I know very little of the beliefs that people of the Islamic fath carry with the exception of how books and news stations portray them. My perception of Islam would not be based on information from indifferent sources, but of what I understand about the duty and goal of every Muslim is to ultimately unite the world as an Islamic state using any means necassary. I don't look down on people of any race or religion but, I also heard information that their prophet Mohammed had as many as thirty wives with some as young as nine and he spread the faith by using his armies to conquer other people. Does anyone have information concerning my perceptions because I have very little understanding of the religion as a whole.

  45. Resolved Question: Why can't the media report the news and not tilt it?
  46. 6 Jun 2008 at 10:20am
Everyone knows in an election years there has to be a crisis for the media to report even more than everyday news. 5.5% unemployment if you are the one that lost your job it is a crisis but over all it is just about normal unemployment at ANY given time there will be 4.5 to 5.0% of people not working. NOW SPINNERS GO TO WORK this is what it causes "katydid" thinks the article says it is the highest that is the mentallity that takes it out of context. 48. 6 Jun 2008 at 9:56am
I feel that the supporters of Obama who are past their mid 40's, especially women, are not being included in his future plans. You hear a lot of hype about the fact that Obama promises change and that older folks don't like it. That's ridiculous! Change is what the Baby Boomers are all about!. They have undergone more change than any other! Also, I heard a disturbing comment by an Obama supporter on the news. He claims younger voters like Obama because he doesn't reminisce about Viet Nam or the nostalgia of any good that occurred in the past! First of all if this is true it's because the youth of today -18 through 35 year olds-- didn't grow up with parents who remember a lot of this or were too busy to talk about it with their kids. He really has divided this Party! He will not win this election on his own merit! He must pick a senior politician for VP or most of Clinton's supporters won't vote for him! Baby Boomers are the largest generation in U S History and they vote! http://www.nytimes.com/2007/01/21/weekinreview/21broder.html?_r=1&oref=slogin Just to clarify further --I am not basing my feelings on just one statement. I have heard this remark passed several times on the news by various reporters and analysts who favor Obama. Also, I would like very much to vote for this man but he has yet to convince me. He says things that turn me off totally such as his education plans, his thoughts on Social security, and his lack of concern for the housing crisis both the foreclosures and the lack of affordable homes available to the poor.

  49. Resolved Question: Why is the media memory so short?
  50. 6 Jun 2008 at 8:20am
This morning's Yahoo News headlines says Yahoo! News Story - Obama's victory a symbol for black Americans - Yahoo! Newshttp://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20080606/pl_nm/usa_politics_obama_race_dc Ok, am I the ONLY one who remembers Alan Keyes during the Republican primary races in 1996 and 2000?? And does anyone even know he is running AGAIN?? What do you think of the media influence on the voter as displaying Obama as the only viable black candidate since Jesse Jackson?? Is this credible and balanced or biased and bent on swaying votes? Regardless of who the "major" candidates are, would you, the average voter, want to hear more from ALL the candidates or just the "major" parties' candidates? folks, please read the article before you answer...Sharpton and Jackson were never viable candidates to begin with--they are the epitome of racists. In my opinion, they're right up there with Louis Farakan and the Black Panthers...just as bad as the KKK or Christian Identity people Alan Keyes has broken with the Republican party and joined the Constitutionalist party. I love both Ron Paul and Alan Keyes--that to me would be the ultimate ticket to healing our country's failed policies.

  53. Resolved Question: How does a business issue press credentials?
  54. 6 Jun 2008 at 5:09am
I am starting a small business which will involve publishing articles about cars. I went to the journalism resource section of Audi's page and found a press registration form. One of the items on the form is a check box giving the option to register as, "an accredited member of the news media". Following the check box is a text box which asks for, "Supporting information for media credentials". I have been unable to find any accrediting agency to apply to (I believe it doesn't exist). I found a similar question here: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070717043716AAeDMeu however it doesn't provide the details I'm looking for. My question is, how do I issue press credentials to staff writers of my new publication? I would like information on the expected format and content of supporting information expected when applying for status as an accredited member of the press. In other words what do I put in that box to get my writers the best resources available? Thanks!

Revealed: Secret plan to keep Iraq under US control Bush wants 50 military bases, control of Iraqi airspace and legal immunity for all American soldiers and contractors By Patrick Cockburn Thursday, 5 June 2008 A secret deal being negotiated in Baghdad would perpetuate the American military occupation of Iraq indefinitely, regardless of the outcome of the US presidential election in November. The terms of the impending deal, details of which have been leaked to The Independent, are likely to have an explosive political effect in Iraq. Iraqi officials fear that the accord, under which US troops would occupy permanent bases, conduct military operations, arrest Iraqis and enjoy immunity from Iraqi law, will destabilise Iraq's position in the Middle East and lay the basis for unending conflict in their country. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/middle-east/revealed-secret-plan-to-keep-iraq -under-us-control-840512.html

As I went to yahoo.com I could not see it on the home page, and when I flipped channels on cnn, msnbc, and ABC news I didn't see it. Why is the general media ignoring the conviction of one of Obama's lead fund raisers over the past 20 years? Or am I just missing it? Why paraphrase? (I clearly said one of his lead fund raisers not simply his lead fund raiser). Sources say he helped Obama raise 250,000 dollars over the past 20 years, and they bought property right next to each other at the same time.

I thought the Media was supposed to be neutral yet they openly support Obama!! Utterly DISGUSTING!! My Hillary vote is now going to McCain!! So is my entire family and all my friends! Oh and by the way if all you Obama supporters really want him to win I seriously suggest you stop accusing all WHITE people of being RACIST!! It will push people further and further away from him and make people want to vote against him. You don't hear much in the US media about the following: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/10767465/ Quote: Harry Belafonte accused U.S. news media of falsely painting Chavez as a ?dictator,? when in fact, he said, there is democracy and citizens are ?optimistic about their future.? Washington's War on Nicaragua by Holly Sklar (Paperback - May 1988) Paraphrase: The World Court in the Hague found the U.S. guilty of war crimes in Nicaragua in November of 1984. Noam Chomsky Paraphrase: After US foreign aid begins in a country, the GNP increases, however, the rate of starvation also increases. 70. 5 Jun 2008 at 9:29pm
Has your candidate had the guts to question Bernanke, the chairman of the Federal Reserve, about the number one issue facing our country, the continually falling dollar?? http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Jbi-0Tg1b_g Or has the media done an excellent job of bamboozling by proclaiming him "the black candidate" therefore making his RACE the issue among so many people? This has been a huge boost to the corporate owned Obama, since it deflects our attention from the REAL issues, and gives him a free pass, because people are mostly discussing his racial make-up instead of digging deeper and looking at his poor senate performance and lack of substantial accomplishments therein. If you havent noticed, Obama is now taking a hard line against Iran & Syria. Getting out of the Iraq war is just a diversion. Obama may very well be puppeted into war against both, which as you see, solves nothing and brings ZERO change. http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20080604/pl_nm/usa_politics_obama_mideast_dc

Current situation -- Company #1: I'm working at an online media company as a web developer. My role is gradually evolving to a senior developer level, and then maybe project manager, but it's going to take at least another year to progress to that level. Company #2: A small mobile marketing company that's been going for 7-8 years. Started in the UK, now expanding to the US and also here, Australia. They want me for a technical/account manager role. This would be a much higher-level role than my current one, and they're also willing to pay more, but I'm not sure if it's worth it. Should I be moving from an established online media partnership (between Microsoft and PBL) to a small startup? Company #3: News Ltd. are also interviewing me for a senior developer role. It would pay a little more and be a higher-level role, but not as much as company #2. But they are a major company. So what direction should I be heading in?

Or do you feel the media and video games has polluted the minds of many future heroes into thinking that reality is simply what they see before them on tv? I doubt this 14 year old back then wanted to go and kill because he thought it would be fun..With no mass media back then it proves that love for ones country can be found at such a young age.. This makes you wonder about the media and how they are controlling what we see and hear. He was found guilty and I dont care but Obama is as crooked as him. http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/story?id=4999942&page=1 Obama's aide have repeatedly said they have given $150,000 of the contributions to charity what happened to the rest of it it was over $250,00 and he was more than just an associate he admitted that or dont you listen or have you selective hearing and reading about Obama nobody can say anything about this or the sheep cult will be all over you. BC if that would have been anyone else the news would have played it over and over again you are biased. BC It didnt make front headlines yesterday when he was convicted of fraud which part of was his involvement with paying government officials no names mentioned. I do keep up with the news or I wouldnt have brought it up da. I dont live in a cave just little rock arkansas and Im from scotland and its not on the news there nothing on the bbc maybe you have better coverage smart arse. You say the media doesnt control, what about when the first desert storm war began we seen the soldiers that died coffins and now we get a tiny portion if any about this are you kidding the public are so brain washed they say you have freedom of speech I have more rights in my country you just dont know it until you stay in another country. Flowergirl excuse me I have a college degree and dont need you to educate me if you dont like the question dont answere simple or is that too complex.

  82. 5 Jun 2008 at 3:05pm
Eric Shawn just filed a story on Special Report 6/4/08 about dead people voting, a favorite boogey-man of the right around this time of (even-numbered) year. Although within the report he quoted an official from Connecticut who assured that no dead person actually voted and every case was a matter of clerical error and not voter fraud, the reminder has nonetheless been made to FOX viewers that voter fraud is an important issue, worthy of media scrutiny. Election fraud, on the other hand, is rarely mentioned on FOX and only as a source of disparagement towards conspiracy-minded sore loser liberals. Vote caging, is a systematic suppression of blocs of votes, has been historically the province of the Republican party, and tens of thousands of voters at a time have been disenfranchised. Voter rolls have been systematically purged, too few machines delivered to neighborhoods expected to go heavily Democratic, and now ID laws are being instituted, with very little time for publicity, that are believed to disfavor poor voters. These stories are virtually invisible to the FOX viewer, but now they know the story of one woman shocked to find that her deceased mother had "voted." We can expect more of those isolated incidents to make the national news (on FOX, at least), building the case that it's rampant, while the institutionalized cheating goes under the radar. http://www.newshounds.us/2008/06/04/like_zombies_dead_voters_return_to_fox_for_their_ quadrennial_scare.php#more

  83. Resolved Question: Why does the Media go so easy on McCain?
  84. 5 Jun 2008 at 2:07pm
I mean relay when McCain slips up calls Vladimir Putin the president of Germany and it gets one day on the news but when Obama clamed his uncle liberated the Auschwitz concentration camp and the media calls that a weakness in foreign policy. Also McCain called Ahmadinejad the Supreme Leader of Iran over and over again But in fact Ali Khamenei is. and the Media don't question it. Also on Rev right the timing of the videos release was oddly convenient to divide the party just 2 weeks before the Ohio and Texas primary's the states that head the most Dellagates other then Calaforna that was 2 months down the road. but they hardly talk about Rod Parsley & John Hagee until McCain renounces them. The press plays it off like McCain did not know they where Intallerent but in 1999 he called John Hagee and Agent of intallerance.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/csm/20080605/ts_csm/amatchup When will Obama be referred to as: Barack Obama, Democratic Presidential nominee instead of "The African American nominee"? Thoughts? As a fellow African American, I'm very proud to see Obama make history. However, I do believe it's somewhat unfair to keep labeling him as the "1st African American nominee" everytime he's mentioned. I'd love for him to be referred to as Obama sometimes. That would PROVE that his race is NOT an issue.

Tell me if you can find the words "Muslim" or "Islam" in the AP's story. http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/06/03/ap/national/main4150022.shtml Why are so many so hesitant to call a spade a spade regarding the "religion of peace"? Holy: Umm, no it was not. It was heard in the Federal District Court in Columbus and was open to the public. why: Npobody has a problem with all Middle Eastern people. There are Christians and Jews there, too. The "religion of peace" however, fosters terrorism in far greater proportions than one would statistically expect based on its membership, whether we're discussing ones from Damascus or Columbus.

  95. Resolved Question: Sexism alive and well? Have we gone backward?
  96. 4 Jun 2008 at 11:30pm
I am amazed at the things I've seen on TV news commentary(people IN the media referring to Hillary from anything from B**** to saying the sight of her makes a man cross his legs, to critiquing her clothes or hair or makeup) to comments here on this forum that she should "clean the Oval Office" (from a girl no less) and she needs to go to a 'fat farm'. I thought we trained the youth in this country that judging a person by gender was wrong? I'm not a Hillary supporter by the way. But I'm horrified at the way the Dems and Obama supporters talk about her and have treated her. This from the party that is supposed to be 'progressive'? I'm also horrified at the way the young people here seem to hate a smart, powerful, ambitious woman. Has anyone else thought about this? Marop - the "Republican media"? Huh? The bad comments I've heard about her all came from liberal media! Fox alone has been addressing the sexism aspect, inviting on Geraldine Ferraro (Dem) for example to talk about it! Bob B - I didn't say she LOST because she is a woman - can't you read? I said that whether she loses or not, the fact that she was running made the ugly comments start. They obviously DO have to do with her gender, by their very nature. Last night someone here referred to her as "middleaged, menopausal" - that is about gender.

I can't say that i know much about the world from experience, because i'm only twenty years old but i've been to three continents and nothing i've learned on vacation is anywhere near as important as the information you have access to, but theres no chance of even getting mentioned on tv. I believe that it is because there is such a lack of clarity or honest questioning on the media that causes americas ignorance. especially when it comes to the iraq war i never learned a damn thing about what they're doing there by watching the news.
